In recent development, NHA toll tax increased by the authorities on major highways and motorways across the country. The government has decided to increases toll rates second time in just three months of 2025.
A toll tax is a tax or fee that is charged for vehicles using certain roads, bridges, tunnels, etc to cover maintenance of the infrastructure.
Last time NHA increased toll tax on January 5th, 2025 aimed to achieve the revenue target of 102 billion for financial year 2024-25. Now NHA once again announced to increases the toll tax effective from April 1st, 2025, to achieve the target.
This marks the second hike of the toll tax within three months of 2025, increasing the financial burden on daily travelers and transporters.
According to official notification, the following tax will be levied:

- Cars will be charged Rs 70
- Van will be charged Rs 150
- Buses will be charged Rs 250
- Two-three axle trucks will pay Rs 300
- Large trucks will face a toll of Rs 550.

The latest increase also affects major motorways and highways, including M1, M3, M4, M5, M14, and E35.
The toll for cars on Islamabad-Peshawar (M1) has been risen from Rs 500 to Rs 550. On Lahore-Abdul Hakeem (M3) Motorway, the fee has been increased from Rs 700 to Rs 800.
Similarly, the Pindi-Bhattian-Faisalabad-Multan (M4) route now pays charges of Rs 1050, up from Rs 950, while the Multan-Sukkur (M5) highway faces the toll of Rs 1200, up from Rs Rs1100.
The M14 Dera Ismail Khan-Hakla highway has been raised from Rs 600 to Rs 650. The toll for cars on Hassan Abdul-Havelian-Mansehra (E35) has gone up from Rs 250 to Rs 300.
For large vehicles, tolls across these routes charge a new range between Rs 850 and Rs 5750.
