Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), held a significant meeting with a JazzCash delegation led by Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Ibrar Khan, and Chief Strategic Officer, Ali Naseer. The discussion centered on advancing financial and digital inclusion for BISP’s women beneficiaries by equipping them with smartphones.
Senator Rubina Khalid reiterated the directive from both the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of transparency and respect in disbursing payments to BISP beneficiaries. She underscored that providing smartphones is a crucial step toward digital empowerment, which will help bridge the communication gap between BISP and its beneficiaries. This initiative is expected to empower beneficiaries by making them more aware of their rights and reducing the risk of fraud.
The Chairperson Rubina Khalid also highlighted BISP’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of its beneficiaries by offering market-relevant skill training that aligns with current employment opportunities. During the meeting, the JazzCash team presented potential initiatives for collaboration, to which Rubina Khalid responded by urging the development of a detailed implementation plan for the digital empowerment of BISP beneficiaries.
This strategic partnership aims to strengthen BISP’s role in empowering women across Pakistan, ensuring they are digitally and financially included in today’s fast-paced world.
