As Pakistan prepares to celebrate its 77th Independence Day on August 14, the Islamabad Imposed 10-Day Ban on ‘Noisemakers’ in the federal capital.
The ban, which takes immediate effect, was announced through a notification issued by Islamabad’s Additional District Magistrate Usman Ashraf. The decision, enforced under Section 144, aims to curb public disturbances as local traders ramp up sales of celebratory items such as flags, badges, and other goods ahead of Independence Day.
The notification emphasized that the noise from toy horns, which are being sold across Islamabad, is causing disruptions to vehicular traffic and disturbing public peace.
Islamabad’s Deputy Commissioner, Irfan Nawaz, urged citizens to refrain from using toy horns and warned stall owners against selling them. He directed all assistant commissioners to confiscate any honking toys found at stalls across the city. “Using or selling a toy horn can land you in legal trouble,” the official cautioned.
Last year, a judicial magistrate’s court in Karachi had similarly taken action against toy horn sellers during Independence Day celebrations. In 2022, a Lahore High Court plea seeking a ban on plastic toy horns was dismissed.
The nation is set to observe its 77th Independence Day on Wednesday, marking the occasion with traditional zeal and fervor.
