Mehdi Hassan Son Singing Show Thrills Ghazal Lovers in Peshawar

The Mehdi Hassan Son Singing Show took center stage in the evening during a grand musical concert held to honor the legendary classical Urdu ghazal maestro, Mehdi Hassan Khan, and raise awareness about the rich tradition of classical music. The highlight of the event was the remarkable performance by Mehdi Hassan’s son, Kamran Mehdi Hassan, who captivated the audience with renditions of his father’s timeless ghazals.

The event, organized by the Sargam Guide Music Academy (SGMA) in collaboration with the Peshawar Press Club at Zubair Mir Hall, drew a select gathering of music enthusiasts and local folk artists. Kamran Mehdi Hassan, son of the iconic Mehdi Hassan, stole the spotlight with his soulful performances, leaving the audience in awe as he brought to life the unforgettable melodies of his legendary father.

This special occasion was part of the All Pakistan Jashn-i-Mehdi Hassan Khan, commemorating the 12th death anniversary of Mehdi Hassan Khan. Renowned singers such as Kamran Mehdi Hassan, Hafsa Nadeem, Shahid Ali Khan, and Zulfiqar Bhatti sang classic ghazals, receiving enthusiastic applause from the attendees.

Kamran Mehdi Hassan, in his heartfelt speech, emphasized the profound impact his father had on the Urdu classical music genre. He noted that Mehdi Hassan Khan’s unparalleled contribution revolutionized the musical landscape of the subcontinent and left a lasting legacy for future generations of ghazal singers.

A.R. Anwar, head of the Sargam Guide Music Academy, shared anecdotes from his long association with the late Mehdi Hassan Khan, reflecting on how the maestro had been a perpetual source of inspiration for music lovers. He also highlighted Mehdi Hassan’s deep connection to Peshawar, particularly his admiration for KP Urdu poets such as Ahmad Faraz and Qateel Shafai.

Co-organizer Riaz Khan added that Mehdi Hassan’s velvety voice had not only influenced KP artists but also captured the hearts of countless others across the country. He noted that the love and admiration for the ghazal maestro would live on in the hearts of music lovers.

The event concluded with performances of Mehdi Hassan’s popular ghazals, including “Zindagi Mein To,” “Ranjesh Hi Sahi,” “Gulo Mein Rang Bharo,” and “Ku Ba Ku,” leaving the audience in nostalgic bliss.
