In a significant move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the recomposition of the men’s national new selection committee, introducing fresh faces to its ranks. This strategic overhaul aims to enhance the committee’s efficiency and effectiveness in selecting the best talent for the national cricket team.
PCB Plan to Enhance Domestic Cricket
Among the newly appointed members are former cricketer Aqib Javed, ex-captain Azhar Ali, and esteemed former International Cricket Council (ICC) umpire and first-class cricketer Aleem Dar. Their extensive experience in the sport is expected to bring valuable insights and expertise to the selection process.
Retaining his position in the committee is right-handed batter Asad Shafiq, who will continue to play a crucial role in shaping the future of Pakistan cricket. Additionally, Hassan Cheema has been appointed as the data analyst for the selection team, highlighting the PCB’s commitment to leveraging data and analytics in player evaluations.
This reshuffle follows the resignation of former selector Muhammad Yousuf, who announced his departure on X, citing “personal reasons.” Muhammad Yousuf expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve, stating, “It has been a profound privilege to contribute to the growth and success of Pakistan Cricket.”
Aqib Javed will take on oversight responsibilities for key matters within the committee, while Azhar Ali is set to focus on youth development initiatives, fostering the next generation of cricketing talent in Pakistan. The previous selection committee consisted of the captain, head coach, and five non-voting members, along with Asad Shafiq.
The PCB is expected to announce the new roles of the captain, head coach, and the non-voting members of the selection committee in the upcoming week, further shaping the future of Pakistan’s cricketing landscape.
