Pakistan Delegation Meets UNSC Members to Brief on Indian Aggression

Pakistan delegation meets UNSC members to enlighten them about the Indian aggression, which is a ”threat to regional peace,” following the tension between both Pakistan and India. The delegation met with the UNSC (United Nations Security Council) on Monday, 2nd June 2025, and discussed the matter.

The delegation includes Chairman Bilawal Butto Zardari, Hina Rabbani Khar, and Khurram Dastagir; Senators Sherry Rehaman, Faisal Sabzwari, and Bushra Anjum Butt; Jalil Abbas Jilani and Tehmina Janjua; and Musadik Malik. According to the FO (Foreign Office,) the delegation reached New York on 1st June 2025 for consultation at the UN (United Nations).

The PPP (People Party Pakistan) posted on X that the delegation met the UNSC members “to expose Indian propaganda” and presented Pakistan to representatives from different countries such as Greece, Denmark, Somalia, Panama, Japan, Sierra Leone, Algeria, South Korea, Slovenia, and Guyana.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Bilawal Bhutto Zardari told the representatives, ” India’s targeting of urban areas and suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty are a threat to regional peace,” and refused to accept “baseless Indian allegations. He argued that Pakistan will never accept any blame without any research or evidence.

“The international community should not be limited to post-conflict resolution efforts but should find pre-conflict solutions for lasting peace in South Asia,” he added. He briefed the council about the country’s retaliation to Indian aggression, saying, “Pakistan’s response to Indian aggression was measured, responsible, and in accordance with the UN Charter.”

The other member of the delegation also informed the Indian suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty could lead the people of Pakistan to a shortage of water and food and even generate environmental destruction in Pakistan. The Foreign Office issued a statement according to which representatives were pleased with Pakistan’s diplomatic reports and appreciated their efforts.

The PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Pakistan carried out its “principled and responsible stance in the face of India’s escalating provocations” during the meeting. He also emphasized that Pakistan supports restraint, dialogue, diplomacy, and all global orders. He also expressed his concerns about “India’s weaponization of water” by suspending the Indus Water Treaty and urged resolving the Kashmir dispute according to UNSC resolutions.

“Pakistan clearly condemns terrorism in all forms and does not seek conflict. But if it happened, we are fully prepared to defend our sovereignty,” he said.

Moreover, the delegation also met China’s national representative, Fu Cong, and discussed the security situation in South Asia and Indian violations. Bilawal thanked China for supporting Pakistan during the serious tension between Pakistan and India and informed them of the country’s “responsible conduct” following the Pahalgam attack.

“India rejected Pakistan’s offer for a transparent and impartial investigation. Resolution of the Kashmir issue is essential for lasting peace in South Asia,” Bilawal said to the Chinese representative and requested they play their role. Both sides agreed to resist aggression and committed to restoring peace in the region.

During the meeting with UN (United Nations) General Secretary Antonio Guterres, Bilawal commented that “Pakistan seeks peace with dignity, dialogues with purpose, and partnerships built on justice. The unresolved issue of Kashmir continues to threaten regional peace.”

He additionally said, “Any aggression over shared water resources challenges not just Pakistan’s sovereignty but global stability. We rejected terrorism in all forms, yet opposed its misuse as a political tool to target Pakistan. Trade must become the bridge, not a battleground. It’s time for the world to engage, not ignore.”

Meanwhile, the delegation is also scheduled to meet the US (United States) Secretary of State, Marco Rubio; senior administration officials; lawmakers; think-tank (a research institute for policy analysis and suggestions) analysts; and leading media organizations on 3rd June 2025.

However, from 2nd June to 4th June, 2025, another delegation, under the supervision of Syed Tariq Fatemi, special assistant to the prime minister, will visit Moscow and is scheduled to meet with senior Russian officials, think-tank analysts, and media. According to the Foreign Office, ” The visits of these delegations are aimed at projecting Pakistan’s perspective on the recent Indian aggression.”
