Pakistan Heatwave Skin Damage May Cause Cancer : Health Warning!

Pakistan heatwave skin damage has dangerous long-term effects that may lead to skin cancer, Islamabad’s famous skin specialist Dr. Khurram Mushir stated on Saturday, 19 April 2025. He also emphasized that prolonged exposure to blazing temperatures can cause many skin problems like skin burn, premature aging, or even skin cancer.

While talking to a private news channel, Dr. Khurram Mushir said that it is essential to take precautions from the tropical sun to protect our skin as the temperature elevates during these summer months. He recommended creating awareness that people must take necessary measures to protect our skin from scorching rays of sun.

According to him, UV (ultraviolet) rays released from the sun are the primary reason for skin damage during the summer season. UV rays can infiltrate into skin, leading to inflammations, summer rashes, DNA damage, or, in the end, skin cancer. Long exposure to UV rays can also cause premature wrinkles and age spots.

Dr. Khurran  warned people who spend more than half of their day outdoors, such as farmers, laborers, construction workers, and athletes, are at a  higher risk of having severe skin damage.

Precautions to Protect Your Skin:

Experts recommend many precautions to protect  skin from the scorching sun. First of all, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF (sun protection factor) of above 30. Wear protective clothes such as hats, long-sleeved shirts, and pants, and lastly, seek shade when the sun is at its highest.

Moreover, people should avoid spending time outdoors between 10am and 4 pm , when rays of sun are more intense. He also claimed that these simple precautions can significantly lower the risk of skin damage and skin cancer in individuals. He also highlights the importance of  detection and early treatment of skin problems.

He suggested that regular skin checkups are really helpful in identifying potential damage before it becomes severe. People should have to be more cautious about the skin changes such as new moles, freckles, or unusual growths, and if they notice anything suspicious, then immediately consult a dermatologist. Individuals can prevent prolonged damage by being protective about their skin, reducing the risk of skin cancer, Dr. Khurram commented.
