Pakistan India diplomatic crisis deepens after Islamabad announces staff members of the Indian High Commission are “persona non-grata” for being “inconsistent with his privileged status.” The envoys are given 24 hours to leave Pakistan, according to the report issued by the Foreign Office on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian chargé’ d’affaires to make the decision, reiterating that no diplomat or staff member of the Indian high commission can misuse their status and privileges in any manner. The announcement comes after India announced the Pakistani officials “persona non-grata” posted at the Pakistan high commission in New Delhi for similar reasons.
Moreover, the Indian government made a statement that directed Pakistani officials to leave the country within 24 hours, adding its call for envoys to avoid activities beyond their official duties. A démarche was also posted to Pakistani charged affairs and ordered him to ensure no more misuse of their status and privileges.
Earlier a tragic incident happened: an explosive-laden vehicle hit a school bus carrying students to Army Public school in the Khuzdar cantonment, Balochistan, which resulted in the death of at least 6 individuals, including 3 children and several injuries. According to the bomb disposal squad, the vehicle was carrying more than 3 kg of explosives. ISPR, the military media wing, accused India and its proxies to damage Pakistan, especially Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Moreover, Sarfraz Bugti, Chief Minister of Balochistan, also condemned the attack and called it “a brutal act” targeting innocent children. He blamed Indian proxies for using Afghanistan as a launchpad to attack and India for assisting separatist insurgency groups in Afghanistan.
The prime minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, visited Quetta for an emergency briefing with many military leaders. The PM condemned the assault and showed his condolences to the families of victims. He committed to doing justice to those responsible and ensuring a proper investigation into the involvement of India and its proxies in the attack.
Furthermore, the united staes also criticized the attack and the United states embassy in Islamabad condemned it with “deep sorrow’ and stated that “no child should ever fear going to school.” Similarly, china condemned the assault as ambassador Jiang Zaidong expressed condolences to the victims’ families, offering great support to Pakistan. The HRCP (Human Rights Commission of Pakistan) denounced the attack and requested the Pakistani government to resolve the issues in Balochistan through lawful and peaceful means.
