Pakistan strives for Turkish support to boost aviation industry and collaborate regional leadership, training, and technological advancements.
Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the crucial role of collaboration with Turkiye in the aviation sector, calling it a “vital component” of the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkiye. This statement was made during a meeting with Pegasus Airlines Chairperson Mehmat T. Nane and Lucky Cement Limited CEO Muhammad Ali Tabba. Muhammad Aurangzeb noted that this partnership aligns with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to advance Pakistan’s aviation industry.
Muhammad Aurangzeb also highlighted a recent meeting with the Turkish Trade Minister, where they explored multiple avenues to enhance trade and business cooperation between the two nations.
During the discussion, Mehmat T. Nane outlined Turkiye’s aviation strategy and identified key areas where Pakistan could benefit from Turkish expertise. He detailed how Pakistan could leverage Turkiye’s experience to strengthen its aviation sector. The discussions were described as highly productive, marking a significant step forward in Pakistan’s efforts to boost its aviation capabilities and deepen economic ties with Turkiye, according to a statement from the Finance Ministry.
In other news, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the support of the Japanese government, successfully completed the $3.7 million project ‘Strengthening Tsunami and Earthquake Preparedness in Coastal Areas of Pakistan.’ The project, conducted in partnership with the Economic Affairs Division and the Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs) of Sindh and Balochistan, aimed to reduce tsunami risks and their potential impact on coastal communities in Malir, West/Keamari in Karachi, and Gwadar.
