Pakistan team shines with 5 medals at the 4th International Military Sports Council (CISM) World Military Cadet Games held in Venezuela from August 16 to 22, 2024. According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released these achievement marks the first time a Pakistani military contingent has won medals at the World Military Games.
The Pakistani athletes showcased their skills in track and field events, as well as shooting competitions. Chief Warrant Officer Mueed Baloch of the Pakistan Air Force claimed the gold medal in the 400-meter race, while Sepoy Muhammad Akhtar of the Pakistan Army earned a bronze medal in the 5000-meter race.
Mueed Baloch, a national champion from Karachi’s Shanti Nagar, is celebrated for his prowess in both the 200-meter and 400-meter categories. He previously gained recognition as the fastest athlete after winning the 100-meter race at the 2018 Asian Junior Athletics Championship. With numerous international victories to his name, Mueed Baloch also holds Pakistan’s national record for the 400-meter race, clocking an impressive time of 46.73 seconds.
Additionally, in the 25-meter rapid-fire pistol shooting team event, the Pakistani Army trio of Naik Qasim Bilal, Sepoy Ismail Khan, and Sepoy Muhammad Rashid secured a silver medal.
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, along with all Services Chiefs, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the team members for their outstanding performance.
