Punjab Counter Narcotics Force Launched to Combat Drug Trafficking

The Punjab Government set forth ‘Punjab Counter Narcotics Force Launch’ in 2025, a new task force (CNF) to combat drug abuse and trafficking across the province, especially in educational institutions. This force is launched under the newly passed Act of Punjab Control of Narcotic Substances 2025.

According to new law passed by the Provincial Assembly committee, a Director General will lead the CNF (Counter Narcotics Force). All districts and tehsils falling in Punjab region will be equipped with the Narcotics Control Stations. Officers will be present in all these stations and will wear official uniforms and will have access to the entire operational fund. A central database will be setup according to the law and will make this mandatory for all provincial and federal agencies to work together for better coordination and control over the drugs usage in educational institutes in Punjab.

According to law if any officer who will be found guilty on a false narcotic related FIR will face legal consequences. These all steps are taken to ensure accountability.

The new act will also give authority to the government to change provisions, makes rules and provide explanation to ensure proper enforcement.

The launch of the CNF is a major step to fight drug abuse and trafficking, which show a great commitment in protecting public health and safety, especially the young generation who become an easy target for drug suppliers.
