The Punjab Home Department and Islamabad’s local administration ordered to Section 144 Imposed in Punjab and Islamabad aims to prevent public gatherings and ensure security amid PTI’s planned nationwide protests organized by Imran Khan.

Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure allows district administrations to prohibit gatherings of four or more people to maintain law and order and prevent violence.

PTI leader Asad Qaiser announced protests on July 26, 2024 demanding the release of political prisoners, including Imran Khan. PkMAP chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai and JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman also support the demonstrations under the Tehreek Tahaffuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) alliance.
