A 25-member delegation of Pakistani businesses is preparing to visit China for the 8th China-South Asia Exhibition in Kunming, scheduled from July 23-28, 2024. This event is a significant opportunity for Pakistani industries to showcase their potential and valuable connections in the international market.
Khurshid Barlas, head of the Pakistan Association of Exhibition Industry, shared insights during a media briefing after a meeting with senior Board of Investment (BoI) officials. He announced that the delegation would include representatives from key sectors such as light engineering, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and solar energy. These industries are vital to Pakistan’s economic growth and offer promising avenues for collaboration with Chinese companies. Barlas emphasized the expectation of signing several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements, which could lead to substantial investment and technology transfer between the two countries.
The exhibition will see participation from around 80 countries, making it a hub of global commerce and innovation. International organizations will also attend, providing a platform for multilateral engagement. Barlas expressed optimism about the meetings planned with Chinese counterparts, viewing them as a chance to explore new business avenues and strengthen bilateral ties. He highlighted the impact of the Prime Minister’s recent visit to China, which has opened doors for the business community to seize emerging opportunities. This visit underscored the importance of scientific and technical cooperation, promising enhancements in technological development that are crucial for Pakistan’s future.
A major highlight of this cooperation is the multi-mission communication satellite project, set to revolutionize Pakistan’s digital infrastructure. The project aims to deliver high-speed internet across the country, significantly improving the quality of life and fostering economic development. Such advancements are expected to position Pakistan as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
Meetings with various Chinese company representatives are already scheduled, aiming to boost business-to-business interactions and create a robust network for future collaborations. This expo represents a pivotal moment for Pakistan to enhance its economic footprint and leverage international partnerships for sustainable growth.
