Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a recent statement from Adiala Jail, emphasized the importance of returning their stolen mandate as a precondition for dialogue. Imran Khan has urged the judges handling his and his wife’s legal cases to hasten their rulings, highlighting the undue delays involved. He declared his willingness to engage in talks, but only if the stolen mandate is restored and the innocent imprisoned workers are freed, as reported by the PTI’s media wing.
In response to recent comments by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, who denied being under pressure, Khan countered by stating that pressure is only felt by those who resist wrongdoing, accusing Isa of aligning against PTI.
Imran Khan also criticized Justice Isa for the alleged unfair treatment of PTI, including stripping the party of its electoral symbol and compromising their ability to compete equitably, further accusing him of violating their human rights in connection with the events of May 9. He expressed frustration over the delayed hearing of PTI’s petition regarding the May 9 riots and the general election vote rigging claims from February 8, as well as issues surrounding the reserved seats for PTI women.
Highlighting a letter from six judges of the Islamabad High Court, Imran Khan condemned the prevailing “law of the jungle” and called for the Supreme Court judges to support their lower court counterparts in resisting coerced decisions. He urged the nation to seize this critical moment to stand against oppression, warning that failure to do so would doom them to perpetual subjugation.
Additionally, Imran Khan mentioned ongoing preparations to launch a fourth case against him and his wife in the Toshakhana case, after three prior related cases, which he views as a blatant violation of constitutional law. He also shared concerns about threats to his and his wife’s life, noting her denied medical treatment, in a letter to the Telegraph.
Imran Khan’s statements come at a turbulent time, emphasizing his call for swift and fair judicial proceedings and underlining the political tension surrounding his cases.
