Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir warns Harvard students on risks of fake news in the digital age, during a meeting with a delegation of Harvard Business School (HBS) students at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The students, representing nine different countries, were cautioned by Gen Asim Munir about the dangers of misinformation and fake news, urging them to navigate the digital landscape with discernment. The COAS emphasized that education, critical thinking, and innovation are essential in addressing contemporary security challenges.
Gen Asim Munir also underscored Pakistan’s vast potential, encouraging the students to form their own opinions based on personal experiences. The session provided a platform to discuss Pakistan’s pivotal role in promoting regional peace and stability, its relentless fight against terrorism, and its commitment to upholding democratic values.
This interaction follows Gen Asim Munir’s recent address at the Pakistan National Youth Convention 2024, where he highlighted the state’s responsibility to protect its citizens from the adverse effects of social media.
