Bans Pakistani YouTube channels are over 16 with a combined subscriber base of 63 million. India blocked all prominent channels for allegedly spreading misinformation about the Indian army and proactive and sensitive content after the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Kashmir.
According to reports, the ban was the recommendation of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs after the 22 April 2025, Pahalgam attack. In this incident 25 tourists and one local civilian get killed, which intensified the situation between India and Pakistan.
Moreover, the ban was implemented on 27 April 2025. It blocked major Pakistani news outlets, journalists and prominent podcast channels. These channels were likely spreading “false and misleading narratives and misinformation about India, its army and its security agencies, according to their government sources.

Moreover, India has also warned the BBC over its reporting of the Pahalgam attack, objecting to the use of the term “ militants “ instead of “ terrorists” in their coverage. Narendra Modi , Prime Minister of India, has made a strong commitment to punishing those behind the attack and stated that “the time has come to raze whatever is left of the terror haven. The will of 140 crores will break the back of the matters of terror,” as the investigation of the Pahalgam attack has now been formally investigated by the National Investigation Agency.
