Police Arrests Key Suspects in Khalilur Rehman Qamar Kidnapping Case

Lahore police have successfully apprehended the individuals implicated in Khalilur Rehman Qamar Kidnapping case.

Khalilur Rehman Qamar, known for his significant contributions to the Pakistani entertainment industry and his controversial viewpoints, reported his abduction to the authorities just a day before the arrests. The police acted swiftly, tracing the suspects within hours of receivingKhalilur Rehman Qamar’s complaint.

The arrested suspects include Amina Urooj, Mamnoon Haider, Zeeshan Qayyum, Javed Iqbal, Tanveer Ahmed, Falaksher, Qaiser Abbas, Rashid Ahmed, Mian Khan, Babar Ali, Shumaila Bibi, and Maryam Shahzadi. According to the police, Amina Urooj, the primary suspect, has a criminal history involving similar offenses. Her modus operandi includes deceiving victims by posing as a British citizen, which she uses to gain their trust before executing the crime.

DIG Imran Kishwar of the Organized Crime Unit, alongside Khalilur Rehman Qamar, held a press conference to provide details on the case to the public.

Details of the Kidnapping Incident

On Sunday, Lahore police registered a case following Khalilur Rehman Qamar’s complaint about his abduction and subsequent torture. Khalilur Rehman Qamar had been lured to a residence by AminaUrooj, who claimed to be interested in discussing a drama project. Upon arrival, he was kidnapped by armed men.

The renowned playwright was coerced into paying a substantial ransom for his release. During the ordeal, the kidnappers stole Rs60,000, an iPhone 11, an ATM card, and his national identity card. Additionally, they withdrew over Rs200,000 from his bank account.

The FIR details that Khalilur Rehman Qamar was tortured, threatened with death, and forced to seek additional funds from his relatives. The kidnappers initially demanded Rs10 million as ransom but were told byKhalilur Rehman Qamar that he did not have the funds.

This case highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect high-profile individuals and ensure justice for victims of violent crimes.
