Nick Jonas recently addressed the affectionate National Jiju Title Given by Indian Fans. The term, translating to ‘elder sister’s husband,’ highlights his marriage to Indian actress Priyanka Chopra.
Jonas explained, “As you know, I am married to Priyanka. When we got married, this hashtag began. I was ‘National Jiju.’ Jiju means ‘elder sister’s husband,’ so I’m India’s older brother.” Fallon also showcased a clip from a Jonas Brothers concert in India where Nick was introduced as “Jiju” by his brothers Joe and Kevin Jonas.
The couple, who wed on December 1, 2018, at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie, via surrogacy on January 15, 2022. The name Malti Marie pays tribute to both their mothers—Malti after Priyanka’s mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, and Marie after Nick’s mother, Denise Jonas.
Nick Jonas’s bond with his Indian fans has only strengthened since his marriage to Chopra, a celebrated figure in Indian cinema. The ‘National Jiju’ moniker has come to symbolize this deep connection and the warm reception he has received from his admirers in India.
On the professional front, Nick Jonas is set to star in John Carney’s upcoming musical comedy Power Ballad, scheduled for release in 2025. This role adds to his versatile career, showcasing his talents as both a singer and actor.
