People’s Party MPA Syeda Marvi Faseeh has submitted a formal resolution to the Sindh Assembly Secretariat, condemning the derogatory remarks made by motivational speaker Sahil Adeem about women on a recent television show.
During the show “Mukalma,” hosted by the controversial screenwriter Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and Ayesha Jehanzeb, Sahil Adeem claimed that 95% of women in Pakistan are “jahil” (ignorant). When a woman in the audience challenged his statement, Adeem doubled down on his offensive remarks, sparking severe backlash.
Several prominent figures, including lawyer Jibran Nasir, publicly criticized Sahil Adeem for his handling of the conversation and his disrespectful comments about women.
Syeda Marvi Faseeh submitted the resolution under Sub-Rule (1) of Rule 124 of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, 2013. In her resolution, she condemned the remarks made by the “so-called motivational speaker.” The document stated, “Sahil Adeem’s comments are a severe affront to our religious, social, and legal values, causing great offense to women at large,” and called for legal action against him.
The resolution is expected to be on the agenda for the next Sindh Assembly session, where Marvi Faseeh is likely to table it.
She emphasized the importance of respecting women’s dignity and highlighted the harmful impact of such offensive comments on society. The resolution aims to promote a culture of respect and equality, reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of women.
