In a groundbreaking initiative, Sindh Minister for Agriculture, Sardar Mohammad Bukhsh Khan Mahar, unveiled the Agri App, an integrated e-commerce platform designed to enhance agricultural productivity in the province. This innovative platform offers farmers access to quality fertilizers at official rates and features advanced crop monitoring capabilities, ensuring a more efficient farming process.
The launch event was attended by Secretary of Agriculture, Supply & Prices Sindh, Rafique Ahmed Buriro, alongside senior members of the farming community and officials from Engro Fertilizers. During the event, Minister Sardar Bukhsh Khan Mahar emphasized the importance of this free UgAi app, stating that it marks a pivotal step towards modernizing the agricultural sector in Sindh. Through the app, Engro Fertilizers will facilitate direct deliveries of fertilizers from its warehouses to farmers, tailored specifically to their farm sizes and needs.
Sardar Bukhsh Khan Mahar noted that this initiative will not only guarantee uninterrupted access to high-quality fertilizers but also enhance convenience through reliable product delivery. “In addition to its direct purchasing feature, the UgAi app integrates cutting-edge drone technology and satellite imagery to enable precise crop monitoring,” he explained. This technology is expected to significantly reduce input costs while boosting crop yields, providing farmers with valuable tools to enhance their productivity.
The agriculture minister commended Engro Fertilizers for setting a new standard in the agricultural landscape of Pakistan with the UgAi app. He expressed optimism that this platform will help tackle pressing challenges such as artificial shortages, price distortions in the agricultural value chain, and the proliferation of counterfeit products, all of which negatively impact the farming community.
With the launch of the UgAi agri app, Sindh is poised to pave the way for a more sustainable and efficient agricultural sector, benefiting farmers across the province.
