Attaullah Tarar Blames PTI Allegedly Promoting India-Sponsored Agenda in Pakistan

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar blames PTI allegedly promoting India-sponsored agenda in Pakistan.

Attaullah Tarar highlighted the recent revelation of PTI Information Secretary Raoof Hasan’s communication with an Indian journalist, which he claimed exposed the party’s anti-state activities. Raoof Hasan was arrested on July 22, 2024 the same day when DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry urged the nation to stand against militants and “digital terrorists.”

Raoof Hasan was detained by Islamabad police from PTI’s Central Secretariat, where he allegedly headed a digital media cell involved in spreading propaganda against Pakistan’s integrity. Authorities described the PTI digital media center as a hub of international disinformation, responsible for disseminating anti-Pakistan propaganda globally. Following his arrest, Raoof Hasan was handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and later transferred to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) for interrogation in a terrorism case.

In his statement, Attaullah Tarar accused PTI of using its social media cell to wage a campaign against the Pakistan Army, revealing that investigations had uncovered Indian funding of the party from abroad. He labeled PTI as a “foreign-funded” entity, asserting that the party had damaged Pakistan’s foreign policy through a cipher and was now working with “foreign lords” to undermine national integrity.

Commenting on Raoof Hasan’s contacts with the Indian journalist, Attaullah Tarar said they reflected PTI’s overall strategy. He linked the PTI’s social media operations to the May 9 attacks, stating that the party had crossed all limits of hostility towards Pakistan by actively working against national interests and the military.

Condemning PTI further, Attaullah Tarar claimed that the party’s supporters in Pakistan were advancing India’s agenda and had reintroduced terrorists into the country to fulfill this objective. He also criticized the “Faiz-Niazi-Bushra collusion,” blaming it for causing significant harm to the nation.

Attaullah Tarar’s comments came in the wake of the military’s recent announcement that former ISI Director-General, General (retd) Faiz Hamid, had been taken into custody over allegations of land-grabbing and other misconduct, with a Field General Court Martial process initiated against him. Attaullah Tarar suggested that the retired general had been a tool for Imran Khan to destabilize the country, creating a false narrative of a rift within the military.
