Cambridge Announced O/A-Level and IGCSE Exam Results For Pakistan, Reflecting Strong Student Performance.

Cambridge International Education has announced the results for its “largest-ever” June 2024 exam series, including the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), O-Level, and International AS and A-Level. The global exams saw a significant surge in participation, with over 1.6 million entries, reflecting a 9% increase compared to last year.

In Pakistan, more than 100,000 students from 683 schools participated in the Cambridge exams. The country registered over 226,000 entries for Cambridge O-Levels and IGCSEs, along with more than 125,000 entries for Cambridge International AS and A-Levels.

Among the Cambridge O-Level and IGCSE entries, subjects such as Pakistan Studies, Islamiyat, Mathematics, English Language, and Urdu as a Second Language emerged as the most popular. In the Cambridge International AS and A-Level exams, Physics, Mathematics, Business, Chemistry, and Computer Science were the top choices, with Business surpassing Chemistry and Computer Science replacing Economics in the top five.

Rod Smith, Group Managing Director for International Education at Cambridge, extended his congratulations to students and teachers in Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of international education in navigating global challenges. Uzma Yousuf, Cambridge’s Country Director for Pakistan, praised the students’ focus on future-oriented subjects, which reflects a growing awareness of global issues and opportunities.

Cambridge’s statement highlighted the importance of developing skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, and independent research, alongside academic knowledge. The June 2024 exam series was part of a broader global effort, with Cambridge receiving over 1.9 million entries across various qualifications, including Cambridge Checkpoint, IGCSE, International AS & A-Level, and the International Project Qualification—a 10% increase from the previous year.
