The government has unveiled a comprehensive Rightsizing Scheme for govt employees, designed to provide financial support to those impacted by the closure or merger of public institutions due to restructuring efforts. This initiative includes four distinct financial packages aimed at compensating affected employees, with a specific proposal for PWD employees awaiting federal cabinet approval.
The first financial package offers a lump-sum compensation based on years of service. Employees with ten years of service will receive a gross salary for each completed year of service. For those with 10 to 20 years of service, the compensation increases to one-and-a-half times the gross salary for each completed year. Employees who have dedicated more than 20 years to their roles will be entitled to two gross salaries for every completed year of service under this Rightsizing Scheme for government employees.
The second package focuses on pension and gratuity. Employees with less than five years of service will not be eligible for benefits under this package. However, those with five to ten years of service will receive gratuity equivalent to their basic pay for each completed year. In contrast, employees with over ten years of service will qualify for a pension.
Additionally, the Establishment Division has proposed an alternative option based on years of service. For employees with ten years of service, they may receive 0.25% or 0.50% of their gross salary for the remaining months of service. Those with 10 to 20 years of service will also have the same options available, while employees with over 20 years will be eligible for a pension ranging from 100% to 200% until the age of 60.
