The Punjab Government Supports German Tourist with Rs500,000 following a distressing robbery in Lahore.

German tourist has declared Pakistan his “most favourite” destination after receiving Rs500,000 in financial aid from the Punjab government, compensating him for valuables stolen during a recent mugging. Berg Florian, a 27-year-old from Germany, was targeted while camping near Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.

BergFlorian, who arrived in Pakistan on a 30-day visit visa after traveling from Central Asia and China, was robbed while sleeping by the roadside on August 2-3, 2024. The assailants, armed and aggressive, stole his mobile phone, cash, and camera valued at Rs500,000.

Punjab Home Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal visited Berg Florian and presented the financial aid on behalf of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Noor-ul-Amin Mengal assured the media that the government is committed to the safety of tourists, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects involved in the robbery.

Berg Florian expressed his gratitude, praising the provincial government and the warmth of the Pakistani people. He emphasized that the kindness he experienced, alongside Pakistan’s natural beauty, has left a lasting impression on him.

The robbery, which Berg Florian reported to the police, led to the registration of an FIR under Section 382 of the PPC. According to the report, Berg Florian was attacked by two men who demanded cash and forcibly took his belongings, including a $2,000 camera, $3,000 AirPods, a $500 iPhone, Rs5,000 in cash, and a power bank. Despite an attempt to escape, Berg Florian was restrained and physically assaulted, resulting in injuries that prevented him from pursuing the robbers.
