According to the police, the Son Convicted of Planning PTI Leader Dr. Shahid Siddique Murder orchestrated the crime due to personal grievances. Surveillance footage and investigative reports have pointed to the son’s involvement, leading to a nationwide outcry and demands for justice from PTI members and the public alike.
Dr. Shahid Siddique was fatally shot by an unidentified assailant outside a mosque in Lahore’s Valencia Town area after Friday prayer. His son, Qayyum, who was present at the scene, escaped unharmed.
Police investigations have uncovered that Qayyum planned his father’s murder with a friend due to Dr. Shahid Siddique’s refusal to let him marry a girl of his choice. According to the police, Qayyum initially offered Rs 5 million for his father’s murder in January, 2024 but after the first attempt failed, he paid Rs 20 million for the successful attack.
Dr. Shahid Siddique, a prominent figure in the medical community and owner of a private hospital in Johar Town, was under surveillance by a white car on the day of his murder. Qayyum was allegedly aboard this vehicle as his father withdrew cash from a bank to distribute among the needy. Surveillance footage shows Qayyum in the car during the reconnaissance mission with the prime suspect.
The same son who allegedly masterminded the murder led Dr. Siddique’s funeral prayer. Dr. Shahid Siddique, who contested the 2002 general elections, had been a senior member of PTI Punjab for over a decade. PTI leadership has condemned the killing, calling for stringent action against the perpetrators.
This was not the first attempt on Dr. Shahid Siddique’s life, as he survived a similar attack in January, 2024 in the Chuhng area. Police had previously failed to apprehend the culprits. Following the recent incident, police collected bullet shells from the crime scene and formed four teams to capture the shooters.
