Sindh Schools Reopen Today After Two-Months Summer Break

Sindh Schools Reopen today as all public and private institutions across the province will resume classes following an extended summer vacation lasting over two months. Originally scheduled to end on July 31, the summer break, which began on June 1, was extended by the provincial government until August 14, 2024.

Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah, in a recent statement, encouraged students to prioritize their education as they return to school. He also called on teachers to perform their duties with integrity, emphasizing that merit-based recruitment has strengthened the education system.

“For the first time in the country, Sindh has introduced a teachers’ license policy and other reforms,” the minister highlighted. Last year, the provincial government launched this teaching license policy to enhance professional skills among educators, marking what the minister described as “revolutionary steps” toward educational reform and setting new standards for excellence.

In February, 2024 the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department announced that the new academic year for primary and secondary schools would commence on August 1, 2024, rather than the previous start date of April 1, 2024. This decision follows an earlier November announcement to begin the new academic year on April 15, 2024, in both public and private institutions.
