Imran Khan Announced PTI Power Show in Islamabad on 22 August 2024, Aiming to Present New Initiatives, Rally Supporters, and Strengthen the Party’s Position.
Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, announced that incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan has decided to hold a public rally in Islamabad on August 22.
During a press conference in Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Saif assured that the rally would proceed without any law and order issues, emphasizing the party’s commitment to avoiding any legal violations.
This announcement comes amid PTI’s ongoing struggle to secure permission for a public gathering in the federal capital, with authorities repeatedly citing security concerns as a reason for denial. In June, 2024 Islamabad High Court Justice Babar Sattar had urged PTI and the city’s administration to resolve the matter, leading to temporary approval for the rally, which was later revoked by Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa due to the start of Muharram and security concerns.
Following the suspension, PTI sought legal recourse, filing a contempt petition, which was later dismissed. The party then renewed its request for permission to hold a rally on August 13, 2024.
Muhammad Ali Saif’s announcement follows a statement by KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur, asserting that no one could prevent the party from holding a public rally. The CM’s adviser noted that a significant number of participants from KP would attend the upcoming event, highlighting Imran Khan’s directive to engage with the administration and courts amid the country’s challenging situation. Muhammad Ali Saif urged authorities not to create further tensions by obstructing the rally.
