Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of JUI-F, reiterated his rejection of the February 8 general elections, branding them as “fake” and tainted by rigging. He asserted that his party is determined to obstruct the functioning of the current government, declaring, “Our anti government movement will spread across the country, and nobody can stop it.”
At a public gathering held at the Taj Lala Stadium in Pishin, Mr. Rehman addressed the delayed crowd, arriving over five hours behind schedule along with other JUI-F leaders. The event faced heavy security measures following a threat alert issued by the district administration days earlier.
Calls for Unity Against Rigged Elections and Political Exploitation
In his impassioned speech, the JUI-F leader denounced the recent elections as even more rigged than those of 2018, emphasizing his party’s longstanding resistance against electoral injustices. He criticized the prevalent exploitation of politicians by the establishment and urged for a collective stand against the system responsible for usurping the people’s mandate.
Mr. Rehman lamented the prevailing culture where losing candidates cry foul of rigging while winners deem the elections fair, emphasizing the need for politicians to refrain from trading principles for political gain. He highlighted the people of Balochistan’s widespread rejection of the election results and announced his party’s boycott of the PB-50 constituency’s by-election scheduled for the following day.
Criticism of Military’s Role, Economic Policies, and International Injustices
The Maulana questioned the military’s historical role in the creation of Pakistan, asserting that it was the outcome of a popular movement rather than solely military intervention. He decried the absence of true democracy in the country and warned of an impending economic catastrophe due to flawed policies.
Furthermore, Mr. Rehman criticized the Muslim world’s response to the Palestine issue, condemning the ongoing genocide of innocent Palestinians in Gaza. Other JUI-F leaders, including Maulana Ghafoor Haideri and Maulana Mehmood Shah, also addressed the gathering, echoing their leader’s sentiments.
