Pakistan and Turkiye have reiterated their commitment to advancing bilateral trade relations, with a target of reaching $5 billion. This reaffirmation follows the signing of the Trade in Goods Agreement 2022.
Both nations emphasized the significance of enhancing trade and investment through more Government-to-Government (G2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) arrangements, as stated in a press release from Pakistan’s finance ministry. This collaboration aligns with their broader bilateral trade relations aimed at fostering economic growth.
The announcement came during a farewell visit by Turkiye’s Ambassador, Mehmet Paçaci, to Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. The meeting highlighted the long-standing ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, grounded in shared faith, history, and cultural connections.
Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb commended Ambassador Mehmet Paçaci’s role in fortifying bilateral relations and reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to deepening its partnership with Turkiye across various sectors, including bilateral trade relations and technical cooperation. He noted the progress made during a recent visit by a Turkish trade delegation, led by Trade Minister Prof. Dr. Omer Bolat, which explored new cooperation avenues in energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and technology.
The Minister wished Ambassador Mehmet Paçaci well in his future endeavors, expressing confidence in the ongoing collaboration and enduring friendship between the two nations. Ambassador Mehmet Paçaci thanked the Pakistani government for its support during his tenure and acknowledged efforts to bolster economic ties, assuring Turkiye’s commitment to achieving shared goals with Pakistan.
Last week, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb underscored the importance of collaboration with Turkiye in the aviation sector, labeling it a “vital component” of the two countries’ bilateral trade relations. His comments came during a meeting with Pegasus Airlines Chairperson Mehmat T. Nane and Lucky Cement Limited CEO Muhammad Ali Tabba.
Muhammad Aurangzeb stated that this partnership aligns with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to elevate Pakistan’s aviation industry. He also referenced a recent meeting with the Turkish Trade Minister, where discussions revolved around enhancing trade and business collaboration, further advancing their bilateral trade relations.
