Arshad Nadeem Asian Athletics Championship of 2025 victory brings Pakistan another gold medal. Arshad Nadeem, who won a gold medal in the Olympic Champion in men’s javelin, won his second gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championship in Gumi, South Korea, throwing an 86.40m long javelin throw. The championship was held on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Sachin Yadav from India won a silver medal with an 85.16m throw, and Yuta Sakiyama from Japan won a bronze medal with an 83.75m throw. Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage from Sri Lanka, first leading the field in starting throws, was set in 4th position in the end with an 83.27m throw.
Similarly, Yash Vir Singh, an Indian player, was set in 5th position with an 82.57m throw, while Hu Haoran won 6th position with an 80.93m throw, and Sumedha Jagath Ranasinghe, a Sri Lankan player, finished 7th with a 79.81m throw. Lastly, Muhammad Yasir, a Pakistani player, threw a season-best 75.39m to end in 8th place.
Speaking to media, Salman Butt, coach of Arshad Nadeem, said, “It was a good performance, especially since this was his first competition of the season,” adding that if there had been rest between the heats and finals, Nadeem would have had more improvement and a better throw, calling it “a good start.”
In the 50-year history of the Asian Athletics Championship, it’s the first time Pakistan has won a gold medal through Arshad Nadeem’s victory. He barely missed breaking his own Olympic record, where he threw a massive 92.97m, with his championship record of 86.72m throw.
Moreover, when Arshad Nadeem came up to field for his first throw, the audience waved Pakistani flags, and the stadium erupted with “Dil Dil Pakistan” as he threw a monstrous throw of the season. Nadeem was in a state of prostration after winning the gold.
At the start of the championship, Nadeem had a slow start, throwing 75.64m in his first attempt, and in his second attempt, he threw 76.80m. In his next attempt he threw 85.57m; after relaxing his muscles, he threw 83.99m and 86.40m in his fourth and fifth attempts before finishing in the top spot in his sixth attempt with an 86.72m throw in his own style.
