NADRA introduced a new policy with updates on children passport requirements in 2025. Key changes have been reported which will affect the managing of identity and registration documents by families in Pakistan.
One significant update is that now the B Form will not be accepted for children passport applications. From now on parents will first obtain the Children registration certificate (CRC) for NADRA to apply for a children passport. Officials from NADRA says that this update will ensure that every child has an individually verified identity, which will help make their data more reliable and secure.
The other big change is in the Family Registration Certificate. NADRA has awarded a Family Registration Certificate with a legal rank under the law. FRC will prove to be a legal document to resolve the legal matters, especially inheritance and other related matters. Â In the past, the FRC certificate was only used for record-keeping and general identification.
The FRC will now carry official legal status as a legal document. NADRA has also revised its format to represent various family structures and compositions more easily. This new update will now include details for families such as households with parents and their children, married couples with their kids, and even men with more than one wife, would all be listed separately in the FRC.
