Babar Azam Outshines As First Pakistani With 30+ List A Centuries

Babar Azam has cemented his legacy in Pakistan cricket by becoming the first Pakistani batter to score 30 or more List A centuries. The milestone was achieved during a spectacular knock in the Champions One-Day Cup, where Babar’s unbeaten 104 off 100 balls guided Allied Bank Stallions to a commanding victory over Engro Dolphins.

At just 29 years old, Babar’s latest century, which featured seven boundaries and three towering sixes, was a much-needed boost following a recent dip in form. His consistent performance was particularly significant, as his last Test half-century occurred several months ago, and his World Cup outings have not lived up to expectations.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) praised Babar Azam’s achievement, stating, “Babar Azam smashed his 30th List A century, becoming the first Pakistan batter to register 30 or more List-A centuries.” This remarkable feat places him ahead of Khurram Manzoor, who has 27 List-A centuries, and cricket legend Saeed Anwar, who sits at 26.

In the match, Stallions set a target of 272 runs, which proved too much for the Dolphins, who were bowled out for just 97 runs in 25 overs. Mehran Mumtaz and Jahandad Khan were standout performers for the Stallions, each taking three wickets. Yasir Khan, Shan Masood, and Tayyab Tahir also made vital contributions to the Stallions’ total. Additionally, Hussain Talat and Haris Rauf formed a key partnership, helping the team strengthen its position throughout the match.
