The International Cricket Council (ICC) has voiced its satisfaction with the PCB preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. This update comes from sources cited by a local news channel, highlighting the PCB’s commitment to hosting a successful tournament.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reassured ICC board members during a recent meeting that renovation works at the three proposed venues—Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi—will be completed ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025. This crucial information was shared in a report presented on the final day of the ICC meeting, demonstrating the PCB’s dedication to meeting international standards.
In an effort to showcase Pakistan’s readiness, Mohsin Naqvi extended an invitation to ICC members to visit the country and personally evaluate the preparations for this highly anticipated event, scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025 for the Champions Trophy. The final match is set for March 9, with a reserve day planned for March 10.
The meeting also covered other significant topics, including a proposal to adjust the tenure of the ICC Chair and Independent Director positions to two to three-year terms, pending approval from ICC membership. Additionally, several new appointments were made during the session, with Scott Vennink named as the Full Members’ representative on the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee and Scott Edwards representing the Associate Members. Dr. John MacLean has taken over Dr. Roger Hawkes’ position on the ICC Medical Advisory Committee.
The Champions Trophy 2025 will feature eight competitive teams, with Pakistan placed in Group A alongside cricketing powerhouses India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Group B will consist of England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan.
As the excitement builds, matches will unfold across the three venues: Lahore will host seven games, including the highly anticipated final, while Karachi will kick off the tournament and stage one semi-final. Rawalpindi is set to host five matches, including the second semi-final.
