A German Tourist Robbed Near Allama Iqbal Airport in Lahore, identified as Berg Florian, was the victim of a theft incident, according to police reports. The 27-year-old German national, who arrived in Pakistan by bicycle, was camping near the airport and was asleep when the incident occurred.
Florian, visibly distressed in a video, reported that two armed assailants attacked him, torturing him and stealing his mobile phone, cash, and camera, valued at Rs500,000.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt Owais Shafiq stated that an investigation has begun following Berg Florian’s complaint. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and scanning the airport and surrounding areas to locate the suspects.
The police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 382 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which pertains to theft involving violence or threats. Florian recounted setting up his tent on the night of August 2-3, 2024, and being confronted by two men around 1:30 a.m.
The assailants demanded cash, and upon learning Berg Florian had none, they proceeded to search his bags. They targeted Berg Florian’s camera, AirPods, iPhone, Rs5,000 cash, and a power bank. Despite Berg Florian’s attempt to escape, one of the robbers caught him, choked him, and punched him, injuring his knee.
Berg Florian described the suspects as dark-skinned men, approximately 175-180 cm tall, aged 25-32, with one wearing white clothing and the other in black with a prominent chin.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran has also taken notice of the incident. He has instructed SP Cantt Owais Shafiq to expedite the search for the perpetrators and assured that those responsible will face stringent consequences.
Berg Florian, who is on a 30-day visit visa set to expire on September 11, 2024, expressed his disappointment and heartbreak over the incident.
