Gujranwala Police Launches ‘Pink Wheels Project’ For Women Protection

The Gujranwala Police has rolled out the ‘Pink Wheels Project’ in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aiming to bolster protection for women. As part of this initiative, a specialized response unit comprising women police officers has been established to address women’s issues, including abuse.

The ‘Pink Wheels Project’ has equipped the unit with ten Pink Wheels scooters, enabling swift action in response to complaints or information received via emergency helpline 15 or the Police Women Safety App. These Pink Wheels teams are dedicated to addressing domestic violence, rape cases, acid attacks, and other emergencies involving women.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her support for the ‘Pink Wheels Project’ on X, highlighting the initiative’s importance in ensuring that “first responders to women in distress will be women,” positioning Punjab as a leader in women’s safety.
