Haider Ali Wins Medal in ‘Men’s Discus Throw’ at Paris 2024 Paralympics

Pakistani para-athlete Haider Ali has made his country proud by clinching a bronze medal in the Men’s Discus Throw F37 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. With an impressive throw of 52.54 meters on his sixth and final attempt, Ali showcased his exceptional talent, adding to his illustrious medal collection.

This remarkable achievement marks Ali’s fourth Paralympic medal, earned through his best throw of the season. He began the competition with a throw of 52.28 meters in his first attempt. However, the athlete faced challenges as he missed his next four throws consecutively. Despite this setback, Ali’s determination shone through as he secured the bronze medal in the highly competitive event.

Uzbekistan’s Tolibboy Yuldashev claimed the gold medal with a remarkable throw of 57.28 meters on his sixth attempt, following a solid 53.48 meters on his fourth attempt and a throw of 56.03 meters on his fifth attempt. The silver medal went to Jesse Zesseu of Canada, who delivered a strong performance with a throw of 53.24 meters.

Haider Ali’s medal haul includes a gold at the Tokyo Paralympics, a bronze at both the Beijing and Rio Paralympics, and a silver in 2008. His journey to the Paris 2024 Paralympics was marked by a direct qualification after achieving a throw of 51.23 meters during the 2022 Asian Para Games in the F37 category. Ali’s dedication and perseverance continue to inspire many as he represents Pakistan on the international stage.
