Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Annual Convention Catches Global Attention

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) successfully concluded its three-day annual convention in Dallas, USA, attracting over 20,000 attendees. The event, which focused on faith, services, and global issues, saw its registration limit reached by the second day, leading the Islamic Society of North America to halt further registrations, leaving many unable to participate.

Throughout the convention, various activities and seminars were held, including a significant session on the ‘Blasphemy Law,’ where experts argued that the law contradicts Sharia based on evidence from the Quran and Hadith. The Islamic Society of North America also addressed women’s issues, youth affairs, and broader social challenges in the United States and beyond, offering practical solutions through expert-led discussions.

Awards were presented to doctors who selflessly provided medical services in Gaza, with many Pakistani doctors among the recipients. Dr. Suleman Lalani, a Texas State Assembly member, emphasized the importance of making meaningful choices that will be remembered in history. He praised the medical professionals who traveled to Gaza, highlighting their humanitarian contributions.

One of the awardees, Dr. Ikram, shared his emotional experience in Gaza, noting the resilience and unwavering spirit of the Palestinian people despite their hardships. His wife, Banish Ikram, expressed pride in their family’s support for his mission to assist oppressed Muslims in Gaza.

The final day of the Islamic Society of North America convention featured sports, recreational activities, and a poetry session (Mushaira) with poets from India and Pakistan. Renowned Pakistani poet Abbas Tabish received widespread acclaim for his work, with the session chaired by the esteemed poet Noor Amrohvi.

The ISNA bazaar was bustling with activity, with numerous attendees shopping at the various stalls. The companies that participated in the bazaar reported significant gains from the event. The Islamic Society of North America’s convention in Dallas was historic, setting a record for attendance and marking a significant milestone in the organization’s history. Azhar Aziz, a former ISNA president from Dallas, played a pivotal role in the event’s success.
