JI Emir Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman Declines PTI Grand Alliance Citing Past Failures

JI Emir Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman Declines PTI Grand Alliance, citing self-interest in past coalitions.

“We will align with opposition parties on certain issues and engage in discussions, but we will not join any grand alliance,” Naeem Ur Rehman stated.

PTI senior leader Asad Qaiser revealed that Imran Khan, currently imprisoned, endorsed the formation of a “grand opposition alliance” aimed at uniting all opposition parties for a vigorous anti-government campaign. Asad Qaiser also expressed PTI’s support for JI’s protests against soaring electricity bills.

JI is actively protesting against inflated power bills and high taxes, and is conducting sit-ins in Rawalpindi. The government is currently engaging with JI to resolve these issues and end the ongoing demonstrations.

Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman criticized the opposition alliances for ultimately prioritizing personal gain over collective goals, which undermines their effectiveness.

Naeem Ur Rehman expressed frustration with the government’s perceived lack of seriousness in negotiations, stating, “The government believed our sit-in would be short-lived. However, we will remain until our demands are addressed.”

He revealed that JI has demanded transparency regarding the Independent Power Producers’ (IPPs) contracts, suspecting irregularities. The JI chief Naeem Ur Rehman asserted that the party will continue its sit-ins until satisfactory solutions are provided.

Reiterating his position, Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman affirmed that, based on previous experiences, JI will avoid alliances but remains committed to advocating for the public’s relief.
