McDonald ‘Grimace Shake’ Now Available on UK Menu for a Limited Time

McDonald’s has officially added the Grimace Shake to its UK menu, following its massive popularity in the United States after its June 2023 debut. The Grimace Shake, priced at £2.69 for a medium and £2.99 for a large, offers a unique blend of blueberry-flavored syrup mixed with a creamy milkshake base. Available for a limited time, customers can enjoy the Grimace Shake at McDonald’s restaurants, through the app, at the drive-thru, or via McDelivery.

The Grimace Shake became a viral sensation in the US, largely due to a TikTok trend where users pretended to collapse after drinking it. Named and colored after the iconic McDonald’s character Grimace, the shake pays homage to the character’s history. Grimace, introduced in 1971 as ‘Evil Grimace’ in McDonaldland, was originally a villain who stole milkshakes but was reimagined as a friendly monster in 1972. According to McDonald’s Twitter in 2014, Grimace represents “the embodiment of a milkshake or a taste bud”.

The Grimace Shake gained further traction on social media, with celebrities like Courteney Cox sharing parody videos about the drink. Alongside the Grimace Shake, McDonald’s is reintroducing fan favorites like the Philly Cheese Stack and the Chicken Big Mac to its UK menu on September 4, 2024. The Philly Cheese Stack, featuring two beef patties, cheese sauce, onions, and pickles, was previously a hit in October 2023. Social media users have praised the burger, calling it the best limited-edition item McDonald’s has ever offered.

Additionally, McDonald’s is bringing back its popular Monopoly game on 4 September 2024, with prizes including £100,000 cash, new cars, and holidays.
