Pakistan observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, top leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, condemned India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. They highlighted the decades-long wait of Kashmiris for the United Nations to honor its commitments.
President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, as mandated by UN resolutions. He marked August 5 as a significant date, noting the five-year anniversary of India’s unilateral actions to consolidate its control over Jammu and Kashmir.
President Asif Ali Zardari criticized India’s ongoing efforts to alter IIOJK’s demographic and political landscape through measures such as issuing domicile certificates to outsiders and modifying property laws. He underscored that these actions violate international laws, including the 4th Geneva Convention.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri struggle. He denounced India’s August 5, 2019 actions and highlighted the ongoing human rights abuses in IIOJK. The PM Shehbaz Sharif praised the resilience of the Kashmiri people against Indian subjugation and called for international intervention to halt India’s violations.
The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), service chiefs, and the Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirmed their solidarity with the people of IIOJK. They condemned the Indian security forces’ violations of international law and stressed that regional peace depends on resolving the Kashmir dispute per UN resolutions.
President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, termed August 5 as the darkest day in Kashmir’s history. He condemned India’s actions to revoke the region’s special status and called it a blatant violation of UNSC resolutions, aiming to change the disputed territory’s status.
The Pakistani leadership urged the global community to pressure India into ending its human rights violations in IIOJK, reversing its unilateral actions, and implementing UN Security Council resolutions to ensure lasting peace in South Asia.
