Pakistan Sugar Advisory Board Approved Export of 40000 Tonnes to Tajikistan

Pakistan Sugar Advisory Board Approved Export of 40000 Tonnes to Tajikistan, following approval from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet.

The meeting, led by Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, highlighted that Pakistan currently holds 2.852 million tonnes of sugar, exceeding domestic needs. The Trade Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) will oversee the arrangements for this shipment.

Representatives from the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) reported a surplus of 1.5 million tonnes, recommending export to bolster the industry and generate revenue to support growers.

Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain instructed provincial cane commissioners and the Federal Board of Revenue to conduct a stock reconciliation and present their findings at the next SAB meeting.

The PSMA emphasized that there has been no increase in the ex-mills price of sugar, which is unrelated to retail prices. They called on the government to ensure that retail prices remain stable through district administration measures.
