Pakistan vs Australia Cricket: PCB Set to Unveil New Captain and Squads

PCB is gearing up to announce the new captain and the national white-ball squads for the highly anticipated Pakistan vs Australia Cricket series. The official announcement is expected in the coming days, as consultations with selectors on player choices are currently ongoing. Sources reveal that the final team lineup will be confirmed after securing the PCB Chairman’s approval.

One of the key discussions revolves around Mohammad Rizwan, who is a leading contender to replace Babar Azam as the captain for the Pakistan vs Australia Cricket tour. While Mohammad Rizwan’s leadership is under consideration, the white-ball squad is expected to feature the return of key stars, including Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah, ensuring Pakistan fields a competitive team.

The Pakistani team is set to depart for Melbourne on 29 October 2024. Upon their arrival, they will begin their preparations with training sessions at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on November 1 and 2, with an optional session on 3 November 2024.

The much-awaited first ODI between Pakistan and Australia will take place on November 4 at the MCG. The selection committee, consisting of Aqib Javed, Azhar Ali, Aleem Dar, Asad Shafiq, and Hasan Cheema, is currently finalizing the squad for the three ODIs and three T20 matches.

T20I Series Schedule:

  • 14 November: The Gabba, Brisbane (N)
  • 16 November: SCG, Sydney (N)
  • 18 November: Bellerive Oval, Hobart (N)

Pakistan is set to host the Champions Trophy 2025, one of its most significant cricket events, with matches scheduled from 19 February to 9 March 2025. However, India’s participation is uncertain due to strained political ties. The BCCI plans to hold India’s matches in the UAE, with Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah as possible venues.
