Pakistani Kishmala Talat and Gulfam Joseph Rank 14th in Air Pistol Event

Pakistani Kishmala Talat and Gulfam Joseph Rank 14th in the mixed 10m Air Pistol team event at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, showcasing their talent and dedication. The duo, representing Pakistan, scored a total of 571-17x. This achievement highlights their perseverance and skill, marking an important milestone in their shooting careers. Their performance is a testament to the growing prowess of Pakistani athletes in international shooting competitions.

This marked their third appearance at the Games, where Kishmala Talat and Gulfam Joseph had previously competed in the 10m women’s and 10m men’s air pistol events, finishing 31st and 22nd, respectively.

In the mixed team event, Turkey’s Sevval Ilayda Tarhan and Yusuf Dikec topped the qualification round with a score of 582-18x, equalling the Olympic qualification record. They will compete for the gold medal against Serbia’s Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec, who scored 581-24x.

India’s Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot, forming the India 1 team, qualified for the bronze medal match with a total of 580-20x. They will face the Republic of Korea 1 team, consisting of Jin Ye Oh and Wonho Lee, who scored 579-18x.

According to the event rules, the top four teams from the qualification round advance further. The Gold/Silver Medal Match is contested by the top two teams, while the Bronze Medal Match features the teams in positions 3 and 4.

Pakistan’s coach expressed optimism for a better performance in future events. Talat will participate in the rapid-fire sports pistol event on August 2, 2024 and the third Pakistani shooter, Ghulam Muhammad Bashir, will compete in the rapid-fire pistol event on August 4, 2024.
