Sindh Govt Imposed ‘Ban on Drug Accessories’ to Combat Narcotics Use

The Sindh government has taken a significant step to reduce drug consumption by imposing a ban on drug accessories across the province. In an effort to curb the availability of items linked to narcotics use, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon directed Karachi’s commissioner to issue a notification enforcing Section 144. This law now prohibits the sale of wooden, acrylic, glass, stone, plastic, and ceramic pipes, roach clips, chillums, bongs, and marijuana pipes.

Local Station House Officers (SHOs) have been authorized to register cases against violators under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Section 188 addresses the consequences of disobeying orders lawfully issued by public servants.

Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated, “This ban on drug accessories is a vital step in our ongoing efforts to combat drug use in Sindh. We aim to eliminate tools that facilitate narcotics consumption.” He further emphasized that the provincial government will continue to implement strict measures to protect the public, especially the youth, from drug addiction.

In a related case, Sindh Police arrested Riasat Ali, also known as Jadgaal, from Lyari, Karachi. He has been identified as a key narcotics supplier, involved in daily transactions worth Rs 5 to Rs 6 million. His brother, Abid, allegedly smuggled drugs from Iran, with Ali handling the distribution within Karachi.
