Umpire Aleem Dar Retirement will be officially announced at the end of the 2024-25 domestic season, concluding nearly 25 years of his distinguished career.

Umpire Aleem Dar, a name synonymous with integrity and excellence in cricket umpiring, has announced his retirement at the end of the 2024-25 domestic season. This marks the conclusion of a remarkable career that has spanned nearly 25 years, cementing his status as one of the world’s most respected and admired cricket umpires.

Aged 56 and Accomplished

At the age of 56, Umpire Aleem Dar’s career is a testament to dedication and skill. He has received the prestigious David Shepherd Trophy for ICC Umpire of the Year three times, from 2009 to 2011, highlighting his exceptional contributions to the sport. His journey began as a player, where he participated in 17 first-class and 18 List-A matches between 1986 and 1998. Umpire Aleem Dar made his first-class umpiring debut during the 1998-99 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, marking the start of his illustrious officiating career.

A Record-Setting Umpire

From 2003 to 2023, Umpire Aleem Dar served on the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, earning accolades for his exemplary player management skills and calm demeanor. He is currently part of the PCB’s Elite Panel and remains one of only four Pakistani umpires on the ICC’s International Panel, enabling him to officiate in ODIs and T20Is.

Throughout his career, Umpire Aleem Dar has officiated in a record-breaking 145 Tests, 231 ODIs, 72 T20Is, 5 WT20Is, 181 first-class matches, and 282 List-A matches. His professionalism and respectful approach have made him a beloved figure in the cricketing world.

Umpire Aleem Dar concluded, “While I will continue to officiate throughout this season, it will be my last. I remain committed to mentoring and supporting the next generation of match officials and will always be available to offer guidance to those pursuing a career in this noble profession.”
