The Government Restructured Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority into Three Distinct Entities: the PCAA, the Bureau of Aircraft Safety Investigation (BASI), and the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), each with specific responsibilities.
The commercial airports across the country will now operate under the PAA, while BASI will focus on investigating aircraft accidents. The PCAA will continue to oversee all regulatory functions, including flight standards, pilot licensing, airspace management, airworthiness, air transport, and aeromedical services.
The Ministry of Aviation formalized the creation of PAA and BASI through separate notifications issued on August 9, 2024. This reorganization follows the passage of a bill by parliament in 2023, which laid the groundwork for the division of the PCAA.
The government has reassigned employees to these new entities based on their expertise and experience. Financial resources and assets have also been distributed accordingly. A separate notification will soon announce the appointments of department heads.
Additionally, the Ministry of Aviation has advertised vacancies for the Director Generals of both the PCAA and PAA.
