In recognition of national pride, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Awarded Arshad Nadeem a cheque of Rs100 million and the keys to a Honda Civic car with the personalized number plate “PAK 92.97.” The ceremony took place at Arshad Nadeem’s home village in Mian Channu on Tuesday.
The Punjab government had initially promised Rs100 million to the javelin champion, but the car gift added an extra touch of appreciation. CM Maryam Nawaz also presented a Rs5 million cheque to Arshad Nadeem’s coach, Salman Iqbal Butt, commending his role in training the athlete.
On August 8, 2024 Arshad Nadeem ended Pakistan’s 40-year gold medal drought with a record-breaking 92.97-meter throw, setting a new Olympic world record.
During her visit, Maryam Nawaz warmly embraced Arshad Nadeem’s mother, Razia Parveen, and congratulated her on her son’s historic achievement. The family took photos with the CM, while Arshad Nadeem reflected on his Olympic journey.
Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Special Assistant to CM Zeeshan Malik, MPA Sania Ashiq, and others were also in attendance.
In addition, Arshad Nadeem met with renowned scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel at the Mian Channu Tableeghi Markaz, where he received an additional Rs0.5 million reward.
