PM Shehbaz Sharif eyes on IT Park Project to hit $25 Billion export target, aiming to boost Pakistan’s Tech Industry and Economic Growth.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the completion of the Information Technology Park project in Islamabad is expected to significantly enhance Pakistan’s IT sector exports, marking a critical step towards achieving the ambitious $25 billion IT exports target.

During a meeting focused on reviewing ongoing IT initiatives and digitization efforts, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of the IT Park project. He directed officials to engage with Korean experts to explore strategies for expediting the project timeline.

According to a press release from the PM Office’s Media Wing, the construction of the IT Park is advancing rapidly, with the Korean company adjusting the completion date to February 2025, ahead of the previously set deadline of June 2025. The Capital Development Authority is conducting regular site visits to ensure effective oversight of the project’s progress.

The meeting was attended by several key figures, including ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Shaza Fatima Khawaja, alongside Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Jehanzaib Khan and senior officials.

In another significant directive, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed authorities to facilitate the shift of 50% of all public sector cargo via Gwadar Port. This decision was made during a review meeting regarding Chinese investment in Pakistan, where the Prime Minister received updates on a recent delegation of Chinese experts who visited from July 30 to August 6, 2024.

The meeting highlighted that the Chinese delegation engaged with representatives from various ministries, discussing ways to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, information technology, communication, and infrastructure.

Furthermore, plans are in place to enlist Chinese experts to help boost domestic exports and address non-trade barriers. Various promotional events will be organized across different cities in China to showcase and increase the exports of Pakistani products.
