IGP Sindh Suspended Police Officers Posing Irresponsibly on Social Media

In a recent incident that highlights the importance of professionalism within the police force, two police officers, including a lady police constable, were suspended for exhibiting irresponsible behavior while on duty. This action follows the viral circulation of their videos on social media.

Lady Police Constable Maria Gill, who was stationed at the Gizri Police Station, faced suspension after a video surfaced showing her posing in front of the camera while on duty. The incident caught the attention of South Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Asad Raza, leading to immediate disciplinary measures.

Similarly, Constable Zeeshan, who was assigned to the Baghdadi Police Station, also faced consequences after his TikTok video from 2023 resurfaced online, showcasing him posing with his firearm in uniform. City Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arif Aziz intervened, directing Constable Zeeshan to report to his office for further action.

The City SSP stated, “No officer will be allowed to play with or display weapons in videos,” reinforcing the seriousness of the matter. Both constables’ actions were deemed detrimental to the integrity of the police force, prompting authorities to underscore the necessity for discipline and adherence to work ethics during duty hours.

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) expressed disappointment over the conduct of these police officers and reiterated that the police are a professional institution. He warned that any personnel found engaging in similar irresponsible behavior—such as posing with weapons and posting videos online—will face suspension and potential departmental action.
