The Pakistan Football League 2024 is facing a major setback after its partner company, Redstrike Sports, announced that it is pulling out of the project. Redstrike, which played a crucial role in bringing several renowned football stars to Pakistan, has decided to withdraw due to unresolved financial concerns.
The Pakistan Football League 2024 was officially launched with much fanfare in Lahore in July. The eight-team franchise league was scheduled to kick off in November as an independent entity, not affiliated with the Pakistan Football Federation. Despite government backing, the league’s future now seems uncertain following Redstrike’s exit.
According to Redstrike, its decision was influenced by “growing concerns regarding the league’s funding and unpaid invoices to key suppliers.” This move follows the departure of Zabe Khan, former chief operating officer of Global Soccer Ventures, who has distanced himself from the Pakistan Football League 2024.
A spokesperson for Redstrike revealed that the company had not received scheduled payments from PFL UK Holdings, led by chairman Farhan Junejo and chief operating officer Ahmer Kunwer, for the past three months.
“We had a retainership with the PFL, but they haven’t made payments for the last three months,” the spokesperson stated. Despite repeated attempts to contact the league, there has been no response from the PFL leadership.
